Several months ago, I
became aware one day of a bad pain that was developing in the middle finger of
my right hand. It was affecting both of the knuckles and the bone in-between them. The
finger was very stiff and I could hardly bend it, and could not stretch my
fingers out straight to put them in my pocket.
It carried on like this for several weeks without showing any signs of
improvement. I have no idea what caused
it.
Eventually,
I suspected that it might perhaps be arthritis developing, so I went to the
doctor (who turned out to be a Christian) and she arranged for me to go for an
X-ray at the hospital. This turned out clear;
there was apparently nothing wrong with my finger. And yet the pain continued unabated… She prescribed me a mild painkilling cream,
but this did not improve the condition of the finger…
So
I started to pray seriously about it, several times every day, asking the Holy
Spirit within me to give life to my mortal body (Rom. 8:11) in the area of this
finger, wrapping my left hand around it as I prayed. Almost immediately it began to improve as the
pain and stiffness lessened. I continued
to stand on Romans 8:11 every day in this way, and eventually my finger became
normal again.
Praise
God that he is our Healer and that he does indeed desire to give life to our
mortal bodies in the here and now! In
the very brief extract below from a recent message, I refer to this healing… Enjoy!
